Pierre Joubert

Pierre Joubert in his studio showroom - Otway & Orford

Otway & Orford are proud to collaborate with French maritime artist Pierre Joubert on our stylish and unique sailing inspired silk pocket square, ‘Blue Bird’.

Pierre became a professional artist in 1997 after a career in advertising and graphic design taking in Paris, New York and Nantes. He is often described as a contemporary figurative painter as his work is not locked in objective representation of the subject. Pierre is a native of the French Atlantic coast with a studio in the countryside and his work reflects this geographic equilibrium. He portrays sea, land, rocks, sand, the tide and dune vegetation as well as ports and sailing regattas, drawing on Pierre's love for nature and his direct experience. With his artistic roots in Brittany, this remains Pierre's favourite subject for his artworks and they are to be found in galleries and private collections around the world.

Pierre's original artwork was painted in oil on canvas and inspired by the perfect regatta day with clear blue sky, friendly sea, good breeze and sleek yachts with their seemingly intertwined sails.
