About Otway & Orford
Welcome to Otway & Orford and a new tradition in silk pocket squares, proudly Made in England. This new venture is inspired by my grandfather, a captain of several glamorous liners during the 1920s and 1930s, who always sported a pocket square whether at sea or on land. Our brand is named after two of the ships he served on.
We work with one of the top makers of pocket squares, located in the home of English silk printing. This results in a traditional large-size silk pocket square of the highest quality, expertly printed on the finest quality silk twill and beautifully finished thanks to the hand-rolling and hand-sewing of the hem. This much would have been familiar to my grandfather.
The ‘new’ in our tradition comes from a very different approach to design, which definitely would have been unfamiliar to my grandfather. We have collaborated with some of the finest artists of dramatic aviation, automotive and sporting art to produce unique, vibrant and stylish pocket squares that never fail to stir the emotions. The artists' original works were inspired by perennial favourites including the Spitfire, the Red Arrows and sporting action from the worlds of rugby, football, cricket and classic motor racing among others. This means that men can keep something close to their chest that is not only stylish but also has a story and personal meaning for them. As the pocket squares become almost abstract when folded, the design is of course the wearer's little secret.
Every work of art has been chosen not only for the artist’s dynamic interpretation of the subject but also for its extensive colour palette. Numerous colourful looks can easily be created with each pocket square, to bring a flourish to any top pocket from the most formal through to the more casual.
Otway & Orford pocket squares make unique and stylish gifts whatever the occasion thanks to their quality, vibrancy, highly collectable designs and complimentary gift box. Inside each smart Otway & Orford box, the pocket square has been carefully wrapped in tissue and is accompanied by a card telling the story of the artist and their design. To make gifting even easier to the 'hard to buy for man', we also offer a gift-wrapping service.
We hope you will be as excited as we are when you come aboard and discover the Otway & Orford collection.
