Paine Proffitt

The Beautiful Game by Paine Proffitt on display at the National Football Museum | Otway & Orford

Otway & Orford are proud to collaborate with Stoke-on-Trent based American artist Paine Proffitt on our stylish and unique vintage football inspired silk pocket square, ‘The Beautiful Game’.

After an upbringing in five different countries, including studying at Rhode Island School of Design and at the University of Brighton, Paine settled in what he considers ‘home’, England. His unmistakable style has many influences, including Picasso, Chagall and C.R.W. Nevinson, and might best be summed up as contemporary naïve art. The romance and nostalgia of sport is central to Paine’s work, reflecting sport’s importance in defining and shaping us. The broad appeal of Paine’s work has led to him being commissioned by many famous names in club football for match day programme covers, being exhibited at the National Football Museum and acting as Ambassador for Sporting Heritage.

Paine’s original acrylic on canvas artwork was inspired by his love for the true essence of football and immerses us in “the feelings, the reality, the glory and heartache, the love and disappointment, and the beauty of the game.”
