Unique Hand-Sewn Silk Pocket Squares Made in England
What men should wear at Cowes Week
For spectators at Cowes Week (27th July to 2nd August), daytime dressing is fairly casual (and waterproof!). Evening events are however a different matter and may have a specific requested dress code (do check the small print). For most evening affairs though, it will be a question of jacket and tie. Many men's jackets will probably be a variation on the blue blazer, given its nautical connection, paired with chinos. You will see everything from classic double-breasted brass-buttoned blazers through to unstructured & unlined contemporary takes on the blue blazer.
Whichever way you go, any men's jacket at Cowes Week will benefit from a bit of top pocket decoration. A highly appropriate choice is Otway & Orford's beautiful silk pocket square, 'Blue Bird', a regatta sailing art design created in collaboration with Brittany based maritime artist Pierre Joubert. 'Blue Bird' comes in two sizes. Any pocket square fold is fine but if you are feeling creative, try either a 2 or 3 peak fold (which has a definite sail look to it) or a wave fold (a very convincing high seas look, especially when combined with the multiple blues of 'Blue Bird').
You are all set now for a great week of competitive sailing and enjoyable socialising.
