Overview: ‘Into the Storm’ is a unique and high-quality silk pocket square with hand-sewn hem, inspired by the glamorous ocean liners of the 1920s and 1930s. It was created using a painting by artist Alexey Vasilievich Hanzen. Presented in a complimentary gift box, it makes a stylish gift on any occasion. Made in England. Design, Inspiration & Quality: ‘Into the Storm’ is a unique and high-quality full-size silk pocket square Made in England. It has been created using a painting by artist Alexey Vasilievich Hanzen (1876-1937). Hanzen was an official artist at the last Russian Tsar's Naval Ministry. Due to the Russian Revolution, he was forced to emigrate in 1920 ending up in Dubrovnik, where he lived and worked until his death. During this period, he counted King Alexander of Yugoslavia amongst his most loyal customers.

The original artwork was painted in oil on canvas during the 1930s and captures the ocean liner 'Orford' of the Orient Line as it leaves the safety of the port of Dubrovnik for the stormy waters of the Adriatic. The 'Orford' was commanded by Captain A.L. Owens RD RNR, who regularly took the glamorous liner through these waters as part of summer Mediterranean cruises as well as for voyages between England and Australia. Captain Owens is the grandfather of Otway & Orford Founder Mark Owens.

In Macclesfield, the home of English silk printing, the artwork is reproduced with great care. This enables an excellent balance of design colour & clarity between the printed and reverse sides of the AAA quality Mulberry silk twill, ensuring the pocket square looks perfect whichever fold is used. The image of the 'Orford' is framed by the pocket square’s off-white border and the skilfully hand-rolled & hand-sewn 'shoestring' hem in gold. The overall quality of this pocket square from the UK's leading maker is what you would normally expect to find only on London's Savile Row or Jermyn Street.

Full-size pocket squares are 42cm x 42cm (16.5” x 16.5”), medium-size ones are 33cm x 33cm (13" x 13") and ladies' medium-size scarves are 65cm x 65cm (25.6" x 25.6"). Dimensions may vary slightly following the printing and manufacturing process as silk is a natural material.

£75 and £70 are the RRPs of full-size pocket squares, £55 the RRP of a medium-size pocket square and £85 the RRP of a medium-size ladies' scarf, including free gift box, to all countries. 100% AAA quality Mulberry silk woven into 16oz silk twill gives the characteristic sheen and cool touch associated with high-quality silk accessories. It also ensures that pocket squares sit nicely in the top pocket.

Silk should always be dry cleaned. Avoid pressing the hand-finished hem to preserve its distinctive 'shoestring' shape.
